Training and Advising People for General Fitness

Gary provides individually designed fitness programs and health information for people who are interested in becoming fit, losing weight and that are trying to avoid many of the health problems that plague society. He believes that prevention is the best medicine, and that exercise and leading a healthy lifestyle are the keys to prevention. Gary understands how the human body works and is able to implement programs that allow for the best result for each client.

Over the years Gary has helped people improve their overall fitness level and strength, resulting in improved quality of life, a reduction in diseases and a change in body composition. He takes a careful approach, especially with new clients that have not exercised or have not exercised for a number of years. All clients start with a four week adaptation period that allows time for their body to adapt to the new workload. This is important with respect to preventing injuries and long term adherence to the program.

Often overlooked is the importance of weight training in the prevention of diseases. One in four women and one in eight men will develop osteoporosis in their lifetime. Fifty-percent of woman over the age of 50 will suffer a bone fracture. Weight training should be considered mandatory if one hopes to prevent this common health problem. A person can take a lot of calcium, but that will not stop bone loss or increase bone density unless they are involved in a challenging weight training program.

Yoga will not stop bone loss or increase bone density.
